Get Inspired
"Wealth is not a matter of intelligence; it's a matter of inspiration." — Jim Rohn
What inspires you? Are you an interior designer inspired by a vibrant colored flower? Are you a fashion writer who gets motivated by a hot outfit on your favorite actress? Keep those inspirations fresh in your mind by snapping a photo or clipping a page from a magazine. Create an Inspiration Board by attaching your stimulating photos to a corkboard. Place the “Inspiration Board” near your desk or where ever you work. When you get stuck, or experience writer’s block, just glance up at your board and hopefully the words or designs will start flowing from your fingers.
Another tip when experiencing a mental block is to create an Idea Box. When you’re feeling full of rousing thoughts or you hear something you’d like to remember, take a few moments to write down those inspiring sentences, phrases or thoughts on strips of paper. Crumble up the pieces of paper and toss them into an empty tissue box. When you get stumped on what to your next topic is should be just pull one from the Idea Box!

The Power Of The Thank You Note
Job hunting or client hunting? Did you land a hot interview or potential client meeting? If you had a meeting, interview or phone chat with someone you are trying to win over, whether it be a potential employer or a possible client a thank you note may be just the thing to make you stand out.
We had a friend trying to woo a possible client. She had answered every question the client had, emailed her several times just to check in. Weeks went by and she heard nothing. Our friend asked us for advice. We told her write a thank you note on custom stationary and drop it in the mail. Wouldn’t you know, the client called just a few days later and offered her the project! They had put the project on hold while trying to make a decision. Her personal touch proved to the client she was serious.
Now, we’re not saying mail every person you meet a letter but if you’re serious about gaining the attention of someone remember your P’s and Q’s. You have to market yourself just like you would if you were selling a product. |

With 2010 just weeks away now is the time to consider updating your website, logo or product packaging. Revamping your brand not only gives your customers a new reason to check out your product or services but it also acts as a great reason to market your brand to the media and possible new interests! Creating a press release, blog update and email announcement is a very effective way to communicate that you have a new look.
Branding and re-branding is a very important part of marketing. Companies are constantly researching the latest and upcoming looks and styles of their competitors. Think of how many looks large companies like Starbucks has. We see the very recognizable logo on every product but they also brand according to the current times, such as the holidays. They add new coffee flavors during each season and with each of the seasons they coordinate the product packaging. We all know the Starbucks logo but how many of us also associate it with a favorite seasonal flavor of java .
Now is the time to be considering your next branding plan. Spring time will be here before you know it and make sure your customers and clients know you’re with the times! Don’t let your brand get lost in the crowd because you’re stuck in the past. |
